About the Photographer

About the Team

A little about me?   Hmmm…..where do I start?  I’ve been an art teacher, grades K-8, for 8 years.  5 years in the inner-city and 3 years in a private school.  Talk about a difference of environments!  I also started Orchard Photography roughly 6 years ago after a horrible experience with my wedding photographer.  I like to write and just recently started my journey with the power of the pen….er computer….whatever.

I’m also a wife but no kids.  I have enough kids in my classroom all day so having kids is on our “not right now if ever” list.  I enjoy Tae Kwon Do, I do Crossfit and I love running.  Don’t let those activities fool you, I’m not thin by any stretch.  I’ve struggled with my weight for years once I graduated High School.  My goal is just to be active so I don’t become too uncomfortable in my own skin.

My husband and I enjoy going to the lake and drinking wine with friends by a fire…or on the couch…or at a winery…pretty much anytime!  We go to our local Salsa club whenever we can sneak away on a Friday.  My life is a hectic string of chaos and I get by the best I can with a social life at times.  Once wedding season hits though, I’m MIA for at least 6 months at a time!

I fell in love with photography when I first got my hands on a semi-professional camera at the young age of 11.  The next day, we went to the zoo. Getting carried away with my fascination of taking pictures, I probably went through more rolls of film than I should have.  It was on that day that I realized he wanted to be a professional photographer when I grew up.

After high school, I continued on my path to become a professional by studying art at Hiram College in Hiram, Ohio and photojournalism at the San Jose State University in San Jose, California. I started working as a photojournalist for the Virgin Islands Daily News on the islands of St. Thomas and St. Croix.

While living in the Virgin Islands, a friend asked me to help shoot a few weddings.  It was eye opening for me to use my photography skills in such a special, intimate way.  I fell in love with wedding photography.  It was then that I decided to put all of my efforts in focusing on weddings while doing side work for the newspaper.  I lived there for 13 years before moving back home to Cleveland to be closer to family in 2012.  It was then that I found Orchard Photography and began shooting as a lead photographer.  This coming wedding season is sure to bring new, exciting experiences!
