Dancing the Night Away at The Club at Key Center, Cleveland

Today’s blog post is all about Ashley and Brad, which I’ve been waiting to share since their wedding day.  These two are the sweetest couple!

After the weddings I’ve done this year, Ashley and Brad’s day validates my belief that I have some of the best clients around.  These two are just too much!  Funny, sincere, thoughtful and kind – Ashley and Brad had their weddings planned with their guests’ needs at the forefront.  They made sure every moment starting at the church through the reception and finishing with brunch the next day was centered around those coming to help celebrate.

The color pallet was spectacular with the creamy corals and vibrant oranges.  The color popped everywhere it was included in the wedding.

The ceremony was at St. Patrick’s Parish in downtown Cleveland.  If you’ve never seen the inside of this church, you really should take the time to check it out.  An impressive interior with Romanesque influences had all of the air of grandeur that these historic churches accomplish so well.

Just look at how it complements an already impressive wedding…

We headed over to St. Ignatius High School to use their courtyard as an exquisite background that isn’t often utilized.  I am in love with the group shot on the staircase.

After playing in the courtyard for a while, we traveled down to Voinovich Park in Cleveland to capture some great moments with the city and lake as the backdrop. We even sang some Third Eye Blind with Semi Charmed Life that Brad and the groomsmen serenaded to the ladies. (No gonna lie – I definitely sang the lyrics with them, proving that I’m still in love with music from the 90’s…and that I’m starting to get old…)

We bumped into another bridal party in the park (let’s be honest, what Saturday in the summer doesn’t have bridal parties littering Voinovich Park??) and everyone agreed to a mock ‘Battle Royale’.  Too much fun!!

The Club at Key Center  welcomed all of the guests with elegance and class.  The banquet room had a stunning view of Cleveland and Lake Erie, loads of natural light, amazing food and a wonderfully friendly  staff.  Again, Ashley & Brad’s attention to details helped pull the feel of their wedding together seamlessly.

It’s been a long time since I’ve had a hard time photographing the pre-dinner speeches because I was laughing so hard.  The stories everyone told were filled with heartfelt warmth, but the jokes weaved in between had me laughing so hard that I had tears in my eyes.

Without skipping a beat, Blair Bands kicked off the dancing in style.  They dance floor was packed and their performance was amazing!  My hips were unconsciously swinging to the beat as I moved around the dance floor happily snapping away at everyone enjoying the music.

Ashley, Brad, my lovely 2nd shooter Tara and I snuck away to get some night shots around the Fountain of Eternal Life and boy, am I glad we did.  Such unique pictures they’ll enjoy for years to come!

As I headed home, the party was still in full swing.  The guests closed the dance floor down, most waiting to leave until the last song was played.  I had so much fun hanging out with Ashley, Brad, their family and friends.  How did I get so lucky to have such amazing people in my life?

Twinsburg Wedding with a Killer Reception

Sarah & Matt’s wedding is finally finished.  We all know what that means…a new post on the blog!!!

Sarah & Matt’s wedding day was such a blast!  I’ve never met two people that are so incredibly sweet and genuine.  Their thoughtfulness for family, friends and those involved in their wedding is unparalleled.  They went above and beyond to ensure that everyone involved in their day, guest or otherwise, was taken care of.

The day started with Sarah and the girls getting ready.  The sweet and delicate, yet sophisticated lace wedding gown was the perfect compliment for her personality.  Cris was able to capture some timeless moments of Sarah getting ready for the day’s festivities.

I hung out with the guys that morning.  Matt was both excited and nervous as the gentlemen dressed.  His groomsmen made sure to keep the laughter going, distracting Matt from his anxiousness of wanting to marry his best friend.

Before heading out the the church, we used the hotel lobby to take some pictures of the guys before the ceremony.  My favorite picture of the guys is this one:

I bet you couldn’t help but smile seeing such a fun group, am I right?

Despite the rain we’ve been having, SS Cosmas & Damian was the perfect ceremony location for these two.  All of the windows, a vaulted ceiling and lovely decor made for a memorable setting for their wedding.  Sarah surprised Matt with a pre-wedding gift that was just as carefully chosen and thoughtful as their day.

We headed down to Chagrin Falls for the bridal party pictures.  The sun finally started peaking out, making for an unexpected treat in the afternoon.  Despite the humidity that started to spike (what else do you expect in Ohio – where we can get a summer day and lake effect snow within the same 24 hour period?), we were able to keep cool long enough to get some shots around the eclectic town.

These guys had Cris and myself rolling with laughter the entire time.  How can you not love such an awesome bridal party??

The reception at Catered Elegance was full of love and support from family and friends.  Despite the large hall, there was an intimacy in the room that made it feel like a small gathering of old friends.

Again, this bridal party is too freaking fun!

See what I mean?

A relative of Sarah’s made their wedding cake.  Sarah was brought to tears, as you can see above, when she saw it for the first time.  The cake tasted even better then it looked – yes I had a piece because it looked too good to pass up – which is saying a lot because it looked amazing!

You can tell that Sarah and Matt surround themselves with good people by the Maid of Honor and Best Man speeches.  They both reminisced with stories of the newlyweds, as well as offering support and well wishes for the couple.  Sarah’s mother and father even said a few words bringing some of the guests, including myself, to tears from their touching words.

I can’t believe how many people were on the dance floor!  Everyone was shaking and grooving to the awesome music the DJ played all night.  There were times you couldn’t move through the crowed as couples, friends and family  danced the night away.  I could fill an entire blog post with the pictures we took of everyone having fun!

The day was full of laughter, kind gestures and loving words.  Sarah and Matt are two beautiful souls that are made for each other.  They both put the thoughts of others before themselves, they surround themselves with laughter and they are the most genuine people I know. Congratulations on your wedding and I’m so glad Cris and I were asked to be a part of your day!

Briarwood Golf Course Wedding & Reception

With the 4th of July only days away, it’s only appropriate to post this lovely wedding from Memorial Day weekend.  But first, I have to ask, aren’t these two just too adorable for their own good???  You can just feel the love they have for one another!  **swoon**

Last year, I had the privilege to visit Briarwood Golf Course to photograph Katey & Steve’s wedding.  I was excited to visit this amazing venue during Memorial Day weekend.

With the rainy weather we’ve been having lately, it’s hard to remember what a beautiful sunny day in Ohio looks like anymore.  Alysia and Steven not only know how to pick a beautiful venue, they also know how to bribe Mother Nature to get such a stunning sunny day.  Not only were we able to get some great detail shots of Alysia’s dress, but those shoes!!  They were hand made and fit her personality to a “T” – fun, vibrant and one-of-a-kind.

You have to admit that those shoes are pretty awesome!

The day was relaxed as both the girls and guys got ready for the big day.  Alysia and Steven made sure they planned their wedding with enough time to make sure no one felt rushed.

Their attention to detail didn’t stop with the attire.  Making sure every guest felt a part of their big day, they kept their details personal and intimate.

We didn’t have long after the ceremony before the evening’s festivities started, but we were able to squeeze in some fun pictures around the pond of the bridal party.

I still can’t get over how much these two are absolutely crazy about each other…

From military dog tags as seating cards to the centerpieces at the tables, the reminder of the *true* meaning of what Memorial Day stands for was humbling.

The reception was filled with just as much fun, laughter and love as the wedding ceremony.  (I seriously can’t get over how cute these two are!)

Alysia & Steven’s wedding reminds me that there’s more to our Nation’s holidays then a day off of work.  It’s to honor those that are *way* braver then myself who have fought, and continue to fight, to keep our country safe.  Sometimes it’s easy to lose sight of the gifts and blessings we have amidst the politicking saturating the media.  A wedding like theirs is a needed reality check for us civilians to appreciate how amazing those that fight for our country are and how much bravery those that choose to marry our soldiers actually have.

Steven, thank you for your service.  Alysia, thank you for your courage in loving and supporting Steven.  To those reading this, I hope you have a wonderful and safe 4th of July!

Chenoweth Golf Course Wedding Reception

Efwa and Chris’ wedding was spectacular and the reception was just as grand.  Not only does Chenoweth Golf Corse have a gorgeous setting for pictures…they know how to make the evening feel intimate and elegant.  Here’s some pictures we took out on the course.

Such love between these two!  My heart melts over this picture *every time* I look at it:

Chenoweth Golf Course First Look

It was a beautiful Spring day for Efua & Chris’ wedding.  They both got ready at Chenoweth Golf Course in the club rooms.  Since the boys were tucked away and Efua hadn’t arrived yet, I took her wedding dress and hung it from a tree in full bloom in front of Chenoweth.  The blossoms were too breathtaking to pass up for a photo opportunity.

Once Efua arrived, it was a flurry of activity as everyone pitched in to help her get ready.  Her bridesmaids made sure they were keeping Efua’s hair safe as they slipped her dress overhead.  They helped tie the corset back up, gave her tips for her day and kept the laughter and conversation flowing as her daughter looked on during the flurry of activity.

My husband (co-owner of Orchard Photography, as well as Cris & my 2nd shooter when needed) hung out with the guys as they got dressed for the day.

Efua and Chris decided on a First Look before their wedding ceremony.  I just had to use the flowering tree as a backdrop for this momentous event.  What better way to celebrate a spring wedding then with the flowers nature provides?  Chris’ smile was priceless when he saw his bride for the first time.  Efua was beaming with excitement as she looked at her soon-to-be-husband with such joy.  Would it be wrong of me to admit that I got a touch emotional when they saw each other for the first time that day?

We arrived at the church, which was packed with family and friends from all over the world.  Their guests flew in from around the globe – Efua’s family came in from Africa to see their little girl get married – to witness these two love birds exchange their vows.  Chris’ father, the pastor of the church, was the pastor who married them.  The personal touches by family and friends kept the ceremony intimate and personal, despite the large turn-out for their wedding.

Efua and Chris’ wedding was beautiful!  I’m so happy I was asked to capture these memories that they can share with their family and friends for years to come.  Check back soon for their group pictures and all of the reception fun!
